The Daily Note
Your daily dose of Grace and Growth
We sometimes pray about things God already spoke about. โLord, should I forgive?โ โLord, should I be honest?โ โLord, should I walk in love?โ But Scripture is already clear. James 1:22 (NKJV) says: โBut be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.โ Prayer is powerful. But prayer is not a replacement for obedience. In 1 Samuel 15:22 (NKJV), Samuel told Saul: โTo obey is better than sacrifice.โ Saul offered sacrifice. But he ignored instruction. And many times we do the same. We pray passionatelyโฆ while postponing obedience. The Kingdom does not move on emotion alone. It moves on alignment. Some breakthroughs are not waiting for more prayer. They are waiting for obedience.
There is a kind of Christianity that sounds spiritualโฆ but is actually emotional. We say: 'I feel led.' 'I donโt feel peace.' 'My heart just isnโt settled.' But hereโs the question: What if your feelings are not trained by truth? Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) says: 'The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?' That doesnโt mean your heart is useless. It means it must be governed. The Kingdom does not run on feelings. It runs on truth. Jesus said in John 17:17 (NKJV): 'Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.' If truth does not lead your emotions, your emotions will lead you into confusion. Peace is not the absence of discomfort. It is alignment with truth. Before you say 'I feelโฆ' Ask: What does the Word say?
